Configurazione di AAWireless
Do I need both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in order to connect to AAWireless?
Our adapter has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hardware. AAWireless establishes a Bluetooth connection with your phone, passes the Wi-Fi credentials from the dongle to the phone, and then breaks off the Bluetooth connection. The adapter itself exclusively utilizes Wi-Fi from that moment on, however, Android Auto processes also require a Bluetooth connection.
How it works:
- If AAWireless’s Bluetooth is not visible, go ahead and reboot your phone, reset the AAWireless dongle and re-pair as you’d normally do for the first time.
- If AAWireless’s Bluetooth is visible, but not connected, turn Bluetooth on your phone on and off, forget the “AAWireless-XXXX” device in your phone’s Bluetooth list, then pair again. At last, restart both the phone and your car’s infotainment system.
- If AAWireless’s Wi-Fi SSID is not visible, go ahead and reboot your phone, reset the AAWireless dongle and re-pair as you’d normally do for the first time.
- If AAWireless’s Wi-Fi is visible, but not connected or asking for the password, manually connect to the dongle’s Bluetooth by tapping on it under your phone’s list of Bluetooth devices.
- If Bluetooth connects but Wi-Fi still fails, test with another phone (if possible) to check if the issue is device-specific.
- If the issue persists, clear cache data for the Android Auto app. Next, delete the “AAWireless-XXXX” Wi-Fi network from your phone’s Wi-Fi settings
AAWireless uses Bluetooth only to pass Wi-Fi credentials to your phone. Once credentials are exchanged, the connection switches entirely to Wi-Fi, indicated by a solid blue light.
What is standby mode and how do I use it?

Can I add Android Auto to my old car?
Yes, there are ways to add Android Auto to older cars that originally do not have built-in Android Auto.

AAWireless doesn't appear between my Bluetooth or WiFi connections. Why?
First, try accessing the content on a different device such as another phone, laptop, or tablet to see if it is visible. If it is visible on the other device but not on your current device, try rebooting your phone.
Check the LED indicator on your Android Auto dongle. If the LED is solid green, it indicates that the Android Auto dongle needs to be replaced.
If none of the previous steps help, you can use the troubleshooting feature in the companion app to contact support for further assistance.
Does Android Auto use WiFi?
Yes, Android Auto can also use Wi-Fi for connectivity. In addition to using a USB cable or Bluetooth, some vehicles and Android Auto head units support wireless connections via Wi-Fi. When connected wirelessly, Android Auto utilises Wi-Fi to establish a connection between the Android device and the car's infotainment system. This allows for a wireless and cable-free experience while using Android Auto in the vehicle.
Our wireless Android Auto adapter has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hardware. AAWireless establishes a Bluetooth connection with your phone, passes the Wi-Fi credentials from the dongle to the phone, and then breaks off the Bluetooth connection. The adaptor exclusively utilises Wi-Fi from that moment on.

Can I use Android Auto via Bluetooth?
No, Android Auto cannot be used solely via Bluetooth. Android Auto requires a physical connection between your Android device and your car's infotainment system to function properly. Initially, Android Auto only supported a wired connection using a USB cable.
However, in recent years, wireless Android Auto has been introduced, allowing you to use Android Auto without a physical cable. But even in wireless mode, Bluetooth is used for certain functions, such as call audio, media streaming, and some control inputs. Bluetooth is used in conjunction with a Wi-Fi connection to establish the wireless connection between your Android device and your car's head unit.

Android Auto keeps disconnecting
It can be frustrating when Android Auto keeps disconnecting during use, whether it's due to random disconnections, disconnections when moving the phone, or the phone repeatedly disconnecting from Android Auto. Several factors can contribute to this issue:
- Phone Compatibility: Ensure that your phone is listed as a compatible device for Android Auto. Some older or less common phone models may have limited compatibility or experience connectivity issues, leading to random disconnections.
- USB Cable and Connection: To prevent disconnections, make sure you're using a high-quality USB cable that is compatible with both your phone and your car's USB port. A faulty or incompatible cable can lead to intermittent disconnections, affecting your Android Auto experience.
- App and System Updates: Keeping your Android Auto app and phone's operating system up to date is crucial. Outdated software versions can result in compatibility issues and instability, leading to frequent disconnections.
- Battery Optimisation: Some phones have aggressive battery optimisation settings that may interfere with Android Auto's functionality. Ensure the Android Auto app is exempt from any battery optimisation restrictions to prevent random disconnections.
- App Permissions: Granting the necessary permissions to the Android Auto app is essential for its smooth operation. Make sure it has permissions for phone calls, contacts, and location services to avoid any potential disruptions.
- Interference from Other Apps: Background apps running on your phone can sometimes interfere with Android Auto, causing it to disconnect randomly. Closing or disabling unnecessary apps can help minimise such interference.
- Phone Movement: If your phone is connected via a USB cable, excessive movement or vibrations while driving can cause the cable to disconnect temporarily. Consider using a phone mount or holder to stabilise the device and reduce the chance of disconnections.
- Infotainment System Updates: Regularly check for firmware updates for your car's infotainment system. Keeping it up to date can address compatibility issues and improve the overall stability of Android Auto.
If you're still experiencing connectivity issues, it may be worth exploring alternative options for Android Auto. AAWireless is a device that enables wireless Android Auto connectivity in select vehicles, offering a cable-free connection between your Android device and your car's infotainment system. It's important to note that compatibility may vary depending on the specific car model and infotainment system.
