How to stop the OTA updates from failing?
If your AAWireless OTA update keeps failing, follow these steps to resolve this issue.
What to do:
- Connect the dongle to a different power source, preferably a wall outlet instead of USB ports on the car or PC.
- Try using a different USB cable that supports data transfer.
- Ensure you have the latest version of the AAWireless Companion App installed on your phone.
- Disable any VPN on your phone, or make sure AAWireless is excluded from the VPN’s network list.
Stable power and network conditions are essential for OTA updates to complete successfully.
How to prevent AAWireless from automatically reconnecting to my phone when the car is not being used?
If you don’t want your AAWireless device to reconnect automatically when the car is not in use, you can use either Auto Standby or Manual Standby. Auto-standby automatically disconnects the adapter when the car is not in use.
This can be useful if your car’s USB port is always powered, as it prevents unwanted connections when not driving.
To enable:
- Open the AAWireless Companion App.
- Enable Auto Standby.
Manual Standby (AAWireless TWO-only) lets you manually set the device to idle mode whenever you don’t want to use it, by simply using the multifunctional button.
To enable:
- Open the AAWireless Companion App.
- Go to Settings → Button Configuration.
- Enable Manual Standby and activate it using the adapter’s button.
Do I need both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in order to connect to AAWireless?
Our adapter has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hardware. AAWireless establishes a Bluetooth connection with your phone, passes the Wi-Fi credentials from the dongle to the phone, and then breaks off the Bluetooth connection. The adapter itself exclusively utilizes Wi-Fi from that moment on, however, Android Auto processes also require a Bluetooth connection.
How it works:
- If AAWireless’s Bluetooth is not visible, go ahead and reboot your phone, reset the AAWireless dongle and re-pair as you’d normally do for the first time.
- If AAWireless’s Bluetooth is visible, but not connected, turn Bluetooth on your phone on and off, forget the “AAWireless-XXXX” device in your phone’s Bluetooth list, then pair again. At last, restart both the phone and your car’s infotainment system.
- If AAWireless’s Wi-Fi SSID is not visible, go ahead and reboot your phone, reset the AAWireless dongle and re-pair as you’d normally do for the first time.
- If AAWireless’s Wi-Fi is visible, but not connected or asking for the password, manually connect to the dongle’s Bluetooth by tapping on it under your phone’s list of Bluetooth devices.
- If Bluetooth connects but Wi-Fi still fails, test with another phone (if possible) to check if the issue is device-specific.
- If the issue persists, clear cache data for the Android Auto app. Next, delete the “AAWireless-XXXX” Wi-Fi network from your phone’s Wi-Fi settings
AAWireless uses Bluetooth only to pass Wi-Fi credentials to your phone. Once credentials are exchanged, the connection switches entirely to Wi-Fi, indicated by a solid blue light.
How to stop audio from stuttering?
Audio stuttering can usually be fixed by adjusting the Audio Stutter Fix or the Wi-Fi channels in the AAWireless companion app. To enable Audio Stutter Fix:
- Open the AAWireless Companion App
- Go to Device Settings
- Tap on Advanced Settings
- Enable Audio Stutter Fix
- Try each available setting: Low, High, Unlimited, and test which works best for your setup
If this does not help:
- Go back to Advanced Settings and open the Wi-Fi settings
- Change the Wi-Fi channel to reduce interference
- Test channels 36 and 149 to see which provides the best performance
Can I exchange my old AAWireless for a new one?
At this moment in time, AAWireless does not facilitate any trade-in or buy-back programs, or allow for different AAWireless models to be exchanged for a different model. Each AAWireless adapter must be purchased separately.

Can I get a business invoice for my AAWireless order?
At this time, AAWireless is unable to generate invoices for companies, or modify the automatically generated invoice. Our webshop is designed to cater exclusively to individual customers, and it does not currently support sales to companies or businesses.
Can I return to AAWireless for free?
Unfortunately, return costs must be borne by the customer. In case of a defective device, we would be more than happy to help you troubleshoot the issue and replace your device at no extra cost. How to start a return process?
We're really sorry to hear that you'd like to proceed with returning your AAWireless dongle. In case of any technical difficulties, we strongly recommend reaching out to our customer support team first. They are there to help with overcoming any potential issues you may face.
If you’d still prefer to return the dongle, you can absolutely do so within 30 days of purchase.
- If you purchased it through Amazon, please initiate the return directly in your Amazon account.
- If you ordered from our AAWireless web shop, you can start the return process in your AAWireless Account.
Note: Customers bear the return costs themselves. If the product is demonstrably defective and is returned under warranty, we will pay the return costs. In that case, we’ll send you a return label via email.
My parcel has been marked as delivered but I did not receive it. What can I do?
Occasionally, couriers might mark a shipment as delivered a bit too early, and they often return with the package the following day. If your package is still not located and delivered within five working days, please get in touch with us. We will make the necessary arrangements to start an investigation and issue a replacement order for you promptly.
My car already has wireless Android Auto/CarPlay, can I still use AAWireless?
Cars with built-in wireless Android Auto or CarPlay are not compatible with the AAWireless dongle. If you’re unsure whether your car has native wireless Android Auto or CarPlay, please reach out to our AAWireless Support Team by email.
Does AAWireless support full-screen projection of Android Auto?
Unfortunately, AAWireless does not support full-screen Android Auto projection.
What do the AAWireless LED colours indicate?
• Solid purple – Adapter is in pairing mode
• Solid green – Adapter is booting up
• Blinking green – Connecting to your phone
• Blinking blue – Connecting to your car screen
• Solid blue – Everything is connected successfully
What is included in the AAWireless box?
Every AAWireless kit contains everything you need to get started:

Is AAWireless compatible with my car?
In general, AAWireless adapters works with cars and head units that exclusively support wired Android Auto or wired Apple CarPlay. In other words, AAWireless is compatible with your car / head unit:
- If your car supports wired Android Auto, you can use the AAWireless Android Auto adaptor to make Android Auto wireless.
- If your car supports wired CarPlay, you can use the AAWireless CarPlay adaptor to make CarPlay wireless.
To check compatibility: plug your phone directly into your car’s USB port. If Android Auto or CarPlay starts up, your vehicle supports the wired version and should be compatible.
